An
alternative to the traditional LAN technology.
Establishing a local
area network (LAN) requires the installation of cabling. Monetary
cost is an important issue in the installation of cabling. However,
there are other significant factors to consider in the installation
of LAN cabling, such as, establishing a temporary LAN. Some
companies need a LAN during a trade exhibition but are constrained
by time, as a trade exhibition is typically of a two to three
day duration. Wiring an exhibition trade booth is not feasible
primarily because of the limited time available. One way is
to install a Wireless LAN (WLAN). A WLAN is also a LAN but without
the cabling associated in establishing a computer network. We
provide WLAN solutions.

Wireless LAN Solutions
Most WLANs are employed
to augment rather than replace wired LANs. WLANs provide connectivity
to a LAN in places where wiring is difficult, costly, or inconvenient
to employ. Common applications for WLANs include the following:
- Hospitals, to
record patient information at bedside
- Car rental companies,
to input car-return information
- Warehouses and
retail shops, to keep inventories
- Restaurants, to
place orders
- Offices, to extend
networks into a boardrooms and libraries
- Schools, for computer
sharing between classrooms

Building-to-building
bridges
serve as attractive alternatives to wired, long distance network
connections, when
- Phone company
lines are too expensive or slow,
- Distance/terrain
makes campus wiring impossible or difficult,
- Companies want
to manage their own interoffice communications
